London pub wedding - Abney park chapel and the londesborough

why i love London pub weddings

I moved out of London almost six years ago to be by the sea and I don’t regret it one bit. However, MY GOD do I miss London pubs. Tristan and I talk about it constantly. Whether we’re living in Brighton or Folkestone surrounded by really gorgeous pubs, nothing compares to the nostalgia, the style, the BEER in a London pub. It’s a massive part of why London Pub Weddings are still some of my absolute favourites to capture and The Londesborough captures every single of of those elements and more.

Abney park chapel ceremony

Alice got ceremony ready with her gals in their East London home, with James just a few doors down in Alice’s sisters house which made it nice and easy for me to capture the morning prep action, before we all hopping cabs to Abney Park Chapel. Guests meandered through the park and made their way to beautifully restored Chapel and headed inside whilst Alice and James had a quick first look before walking down the aisle together.

Readings from their mums and very giggly vows (looking at you James) before making it official and stepping out into some glorious late September sunshine and smashing out their small list of group shots in record time.

The londesborough

And off to the pub we went! A & J led the 15 minute parade through Stoke Newington to the Londesborough where it was straight onto pints, bags of crisps and good old catch ups. Guests chose their three course meal from the menus and scattered between courses were heartfelt and hilarious speeches. I nabbed A & J for five mins after their mains to snap some portraits outside the pub with guests on a smoke break acting as the perfect hype squad - even spotting a cat watching us from the window! After desert and just before the sun set we ushered everyone back outside so that the Londesborough staff could turn some tables round and the band could set up, so used the opportunity to have a fun Flutter Darlings moment (remember you can use my friend code ‘MELLON’ for 15% off) and enjoy that golden light before it was party time! James’ sister led the band and the dancefloor was so rammed I had to climb on tables and chairs to be able to capture the utter JOY that is a live band at a wedding.
